lichtenstein lesson is coming along!

The 6th graders Lichtenstein lesson is coming along! We traced our portraits onto 12x18" drawing paper using the windows as our giant light tables. After students traced their portraits, we outlined them with thick, cartoony lines with a Sharpie. Next step will be adding color and our benday dots!

watercolor shoes

Here are some images of 6th grade students' watercolor shoes projects. We spent a few days sketching our shoes for practice. Then, we drew our shoes on watercolor paper, traced over pencil lines with Sharpies, and watercolored them.

new lichtenstein art lesson!

So.. I am starting a new lesson with my 6th graders. The lesson is about Roy Lichtenstein and his comic book style artwork. The lesson is inspired from this one here from the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art website. Before we started, we took some high contrast photos for our own comic-style self-portraits. Updates to come on how they are turning out!
